I Am A Child of God

We had the privilege of having a couple days with Karla Gil as our companion this week. It was for a program in the church called "Mini Mission" for the jovens (youth) who want to serve a mission. Karla is 18, has been a member for 2 years, and has a strong, sweet spirit. 

This week Hermana Martinez and I had some amazing experiences as we contacted people in the plaza this past Tuesday. We found a young woman named Maira who was sitting on the bench looking at her phone. I began talking to her and offered her a tarjeta (pamphlet), but she was hesitant and didn't accept it. We kept talking to her and something amazing happened. as we began to share gospel principles, how they can bless her life, and how they have blessed ours, she completely opened up to us and we were able to help her realize that she is a daughter of God and has a purpose here on earth. We taught her that through the Atonement she can be forgiven of her sins and have a better life. It was amazing. By the end we were all good friends and Maira was curious to know more about us and our missions. I had the opportunity to tell her about why I'm on a mission and to share what I know to be true in helping others find the happiness this gospel brings. She accepted the tarjeta before we left and the invitation to the noche de barrio (family home evening) activity the following day. I know that this gospel is true! I feel the Spirit testify to my heart as I teach and share these gospel truths.
