The Touch of The Master's Hand

Hola mi familia!

So much has happened and I don’t know where to start or which parts to share! I’ll start out by saying that my talk went well on Sunday :) I was nervous before but after I got up there and started speaking I could feel love and support emanating from my ward; it was so wonderful. I love the people in my ward! My talk was simple and to the point and I bore my testimony in the best Spanish I knew. It was really cool because it was like the words just flowed from me. Heavenly
Father answered my prayer and gave me the words I should say as I asked. :)

Most people here in Guadalupe live in very humble circumstances, but they are so kind and generous. They don’t have much, but they give all that they have and they are happy! They are happy because they have the gospel and happy because they have each other. They are such great examples to me. We have a small ward; most people here don’t have the gospel so we have a lot of work to do :)

Oh, and we had 5 investigators come to church yesterday! it was amazing! that’s the hardest thing to do here, get the investigators to come to church, but they came!

After sacrament we left a little early to go to a funeral. It was a special situation because a sister called President Bird and asked to have missionaries come and sing at the funeral of her grandfather. She is the only member in her whole family. President called Hermana Rasmussen, the other two Elders in our ward, and me and asked us to sing for them. We got there and the sister showed us some of her favorite hymns she wanted us to sing; we also found a couple more good ones. Then she took us into the room with her family and extended family and told them that we were going to sing some comforting hymns… so we began singing. The spirit was so strong and just about every person there was crying. I even had to choke back tears so I could continue singing for them. I could feel their pain and I wanted so badly to express to them that it was going to be ok because families can be together forever and they will be able to see their loved one again. After we finished singing, they shook our hands and the women kissed our cheeks thanking us tearfully. I know they felt the Spirit and I pray that they will someday have the desire to learn more about the gospel from the missionaries.

I wish we could’ve shared a little message with them but the lady asked us only to sing her comforting hymns because her family has different religious beliefs; she didn’t want to cause contention. Though, I’m glad that just before we left Hermana Rasmussen gave out “tarjetas” (pass-along cards) with a picture of Christ on the back with the name of our Church and Internet page so they know where to look for more information if they want.

Last week in Sacrament one of our church leaders spoke and I was surprised to find that I understood and knew exactly what he was talking about! He was telling the story of “The Touch of The Masters Hand” and I just about cried. What a beautiful story and what a beautiful meaning! I know that if we allow the touch of the Master’s Hand in our lives He will help us become what he knows we are capable of becoming. We will be able to be used as instruments in his Hands, like the violin was in this story, to create beautiful melodies.

Our investigator, Raul, is getting baptized this Saturday! It’s the first one I will see and I’m so excited for him! He is so ready to be baptized! Hermana Rasmussen is going to sing and I am going to play the violin (if the elder that brought his will be able to lend me one) at the baptism.

I love you all so much! Gracias por su apoyo y amor (thank you for your support and love)!

Love,

Hermana Olivia Nicolosi
This is a pic of the food we ate at Hermano Margil's house for the ward "noche de hogar" (home evening)! Fue muy rico! (It was really yummy!)
